Porcupine Tree-Voyage 34

This was recorded in 1992-’93 and originaly released as two singles. This two record gatefold album was remixed by Steven Wilson and came out in 2016. The album is in four phases, one on each side totaling about 70 minutes. Its the story of one mans LSD trip, his 34th. All instrumental except for some naration and people talking about their trips. The music is a mixture of Psychedelic,Progressive,Trance, and Krautrock. A sample from Van der Graff Generater’s great “A Plague Of Lighthouse Keepers” is heard throughout the four sides as well as a guitar riff right out of Pink Floyd’s The Wall. The music is definitely trippy but can get a little repetitive at times. A fairly new purchase, it’s my first time listening to this. I liked “Phase II” the best.
