Pink Floyd-The Wall

Another huge seller for the band this was released in late 1979. This is another record that was owned by my friends sister and was mixed up with my records when she was keeping them for me at her house. We played the hell out of this record and I made a cassette tape of it we played in the car and on my boombox. Inside the gatefold cover we each wrote a few lines from the songs on the bricks. Leaving behind the Progressive style of their previous albums these are shorter songs, almost Pop songs. It’s a concept album about a Rock Star who builds a wall around himself to protect him from the outside world. Written entirely by Roger Waters although David Gilmour got a writing credit on “Comfortably Numb”,”Run Like Hell”,and “Young Lust”. “Another Brick In The Wall,Part 2” was a big top 40 hit and “Hey You”,”Comfortably Numb”,”Run Like Hell”,and “Young Lust” became Classic Rock staples. The band was going through financial troubles at the time because of bad investments and keyboardist Richard Wright left the band during the recording of the album. Waters left in ’84 and Gilmour and Nick Mason continued on with a couple more albums that I bought but were not that good. The four reunited for a show in 2005 but never played together again.Richard Wright died in 2008.
