Pink Floyd-Dark Side Of The Moon

Original

They hit the big time on this record making all band members millionaires. One of the best selling records of all time it is on anyones list of top Classic Rock albums. This is one of the three albums I bought with my $16 dollar paycheck I got for working in a pet store for a week before I was let go in 1974. The record came with two posters that I put on my bedroom wall and two stickers I put on one of my notebooks for school.A concept album about life and death, greed and madness the whole album flows from one track to the next with lots of spoken words between tracks and in the background. Engineered by Alan Parsons he had a lot to do with the sound of the record. “Time” and “Money” have soe great guitar by David Gilmour,”Us And Them” features some sax by Dick Parry as well as on “Money”. I love Clair Torry’s vocals on “The Great Gig In The Sky” and the synthesiser on “Any Colour You Like” The recrd has many visible scratches on it but still plays K,no skips but it is one I should replace. There is a bit of an urban legeng that the album was made as a soundtrack for The Wizard Of Oz. In 2008 I saw the Pink Floyd tribute band The Machine just days after Richard Wrights death and they played an extra long set as a tribute to him. While playing Dark Side Of The Moon the showed the Wizard Of Oz on a screen behind them as they played. Nothing really synched up except the line “Home, Home Again” when Dorothy returns from her visit with the traveling medicine man and “The Great Gig In The Sky” is played as the tornado hits the farm.
