This 2010 album is the first from the Heartbreakers in eight years. A blues based record, this is a two record set with a gatefold cover at 65 minutes long. Still with most of the original line-up with Tom,Mike Campbell,Benmont Tench, and Ron Blair with a newer drummer and rhythm guitar player. I heard the song “First Flash Of Freedom” on WXPN months before the record was released ad bought it as soon as I saw it. That song one of the few non Blues songs on the record is a nearly 7 minute hypnotic jam and on my playlist. This is my first time listening to all four sides. I like it much better than their last record The Last DJ. Tom takes the lead on “Running Man’s Bible” playing some great blues licks while Mike Campbell does the same on “Takin’ My Time” and “Let Yourself Go”. “A Trip To Pirates Cove” is a good song about partying with some hotel maids. “High In The Morning” and “Don’t Pull Me Over” deal with marijuana. “I Should Have Known It” is a great Rocker. Overall I had a good impression of this record. One of their best in a long time.
