ThePentangle-Solomon’s Seal

Pentangle along with Fairport Convention and Steeleye Span were the premier Folk Rock bands of the late ’60’s early ’70’s although they were the Folkier of the three. Singer songwriter guitarists John Renbourn and Bert Jansch and the lovely vocals of Jacqui McShee are backed by Danny Thompson’s booming double bass and Terry Cox’s drums. This 1972 record is the last with the original line-up. I had three of their older records but sold them, this is the only one I have left. I really like side one with “Sally Free And Easy” and “People On The Highway”.”High Germany”,”The Snows” and “The Cherry Tree Carol” are three good traditiona songs. Side two has two more traditional songs Child ballad “Willy O’ Winsbury” and “Lady Of Carlisle”. “No Love Is Sorrow” is a beautiful duet by Bert and Jacqui. I bought this about 30 years ago. The record sounds good the cover is not in very good shape, looks like a cutout.
