The Outlaws-The Outlaws

The first album from this Southern Rockn band from Tampa. This has their only top 40 hit “There Goes Another Love Song” and the guitar jam classic “Green Grass And High Tides”. Similar to Lynyrd Skynyrd, whom the give a special than you in the liner notes, they were a bit more on the Country side with some three part harmonies on some of their songs. As far as Southern Rock jams go I always trhought this song kicked “Freebird’s” ass. When this song played, the last on the record, I had to crank it up ,stand up and play some air guitar,it’s hard for me to stand still when this song is playing. Sometime in ’78 or ’79 my friend and I were on some Quaaludes and were driving around and ended up at the University of Delaware in Newark, got out and started walking around the campus. Hearing some music coming from one of the halls we went to investigate. Finding a side door open we went inside. A band was on stage and played two or three songs I didn’t know. Then saying they had time for one more and the one guitarist started playing some notes on his guitar for a few minutes before playing the opening notes of
Green Grass And High Tides” and I knew it was The Outlaws. They proceded to play it for about twenty minutes with solos by both lead guitarists as well as a drum solo.I remember jumping aroud like crazy listening to it. A night I won’t forget. This record is a used one I bought about ten years ago. Looks brand new. Not a re-issue because it has the 6.98 list price on the spine that some record companies put there back then.
