The Obsessed is a band led by Scott Weinrich,from Maryland,who goes by the name Wino. He formed this band in the early 80’s and has broken it up and reformed it a couple of times. He was also in St. Vitus and Spirit Caravan as well as other side projects and solo work. This is a compilation of rare and unreleased tracks. They play a Black Sabbath style Doom Metal and Stoner Rock. Originally from 1999 it was reissued on a two record vinyl set for Record Store Day 2020. Inside the gatefold cover Wino writes about each song in the liner notes. There are two covers The Animals “Inside Looking Out”,done the way Grand Funk Railroad coverd it as Wino explains,and Skynyrd’s “On The Hunt”with members of The Melvins. First time listening to all four sides it all sounds pretty good with some nice trippy guitar solos. “Mental Kingdom” has a backwards guitar solo and Wino explains how they did it. “Concrete Cancer”,”Hiding Mask”,and “Endless Circles”,an early live recording from Washington D.C. are the ones I liked best at first listen.
