Hazel O’Connor-Breaking Glass

This is the soundrack to the film of the same name. They both came out in 1980. The movie stars Hazel as the leader of a band called Breaking Glass and her struggles with band members, managers, record producers, and concert promoters. She ends up having a breakdown and put in a mental hospital. I saw the movie when I was living in Hull in 1983. It was on some late night program, possibly U.S.A.’s Night Flight. The music is New Wave or Punk and Hazel sings in an unconventional way like Lene Lovich or Cindi Lauper. Some songs don’t work without the context of the movie. Sax is featured in most of the songs as well as keyboards, not much guitar. I mostly like the record with songs like “Monsters In Disguise”,”Give Me An Inch”,and “Eighth Day” the ones I like best. Hazel was born in England and the movie was made there. Don’t know if she ever did anything else.
