Mushroom-Analog Hi-Fi Surprise

Mushroom is a cool band from San Francisco. According to the liner notes it is the second album from this six piece band. The music is all instrumental on this two record import from Italy. Like a good old fasioned jam session these songs blend elements of The Canterbury Scene,Krautrock,70’s Miles Davis, and King Crimson with a little bit of Funk. This vinyl edition adds two songs not on the CD including “Elliot Smith” a 20 minute Space Rock song on side four. Any side is great with three songs on record one sounding like Miles Davis on his Agartha and Pangea records, while “October 1970” reminds me of “Trio” by King Crimson. “Abbie Hoffman” the last song on record one is also very good. The two on side three at over 9 minutes each have very long names and have a more Krautrock/Canterbury Scene/Progressive sound. I bought this at the store in Ephrata in 1999 when vinyl releases were few and far between.
