Mudhoney-Since We’ve Become Translucent

Perhaps my favorite Mudhoney album this came out in 2002,one of the few albums released on vinyl then. It’s on green tinted translucent vinyl. They seem to have abandoned the Garage/Punk sound for a more Alternative Rock sound. The first and last songs “Baby Can You Dig The Light?” and “Sonic Infusion”,both over 7 minutes long, are Psychedelic explosions right out of the 60’s. “Baby Can You Dig The Light?”even has some sax drifting in and out.”Crooked And Wide” also has a Psychedelic sound to it. They haven’t left the Garage scene compleatly with the rather crude”Where The Flavor Is”and “Dyin’ For It” showing Mark Arm can still scream with the best of them. Back on Sub Pop records after their last for major label Reprise sold poorly and the first with new bassist Guy Maddison after Matt Lukin retired from the music business in 1999.
