Mudhoney-Head On The Curb

Mudhoney were a forerunner of the Grunge scene, forming in the late 80’s in Seattle after the breakup of Green River. Mark Arm and Steve Turner founded Mudhoney along with Matt Lukin from The Melvins another pre Grunge Seattle Band. Some kind of compilation album recorded in,” various garages, studios and caves in the last decade of the 20th century” as it says on the back of the record. Many of the tracks are unrelesed or demo versions of songs from their albums. The sound quality varies, the first three songs are pretty rough ,the rest are a little better. “Acetone”,an acoustic number, sounding to me like Adam Sandler singing. “When In Rome” on side two was the one I liked best. Also good was their cover of “I Hate The Bloody Queen” a British Punk sounding song by The Queen Haters. The Queen Haters as I found out were a Second City TV “band” featuring Martin Small,Eugene Levy, and John Candy. A vinyl only limited edition of 1000 copies that came out in 2011.
