Mott The Hoople-Mott The Hoople

Original

This is one I bought in ’72 or ’73 mostly for the M. Escher cover, a coloized version of his 1943 drawing. It’s a U.K. import that I bought at Village Records at the Tri State Mall in Delaware. I never played it that much but had the cover hanging on my wall at some point. This is their first album from 1969. Side one has three covers, an instrumental of The Kinks “You Really Got Me” and songs by Doug Sahm and Sonny Bono with Ian Hunter doing his best Dylan. “Laugh At Me” the Bono song does have a nice long fade with some of Mick Ralph’s guitar playing. Side two ,which is what I listened to when I did play it, starts of with the Mick Ralphs song “Rock And Roll Queen” a great Rocker and the best song on the record. There are also two short instrumentals and the 11 minute “Half Moon Bay”.
