A great live album recorded in California and The Rainbow in London. He is backed by his 11 piece Caledonia Soul Orchestra which featured a horn section and four piece string section. Recored in 1973 many consider Van to be at the peak of his carrer. This is a record I bought last year and is a re-issue. This is my first time listenig to all four sides. Besides his own songs he does many Blues and R and B covers of Sonny Boy Williamson,Willie Dixon,Sam Cook, and Ray Charles. Some of his own songs like “St. Dominics Preview”,”I’ve Been Working”,Warm Love”,and “Listen To The Lion” are really good. I liked side four the best with two of his songs from his time in Them “Gloria” and “Here Comes The Night” followed by “Caravan ” and “Cyprus Avenue”.
