Another one from the Collector Series. This one covers the music from their first period. Mike Pinder,Ray Thomas,Graeme Edge,Denny Laine, and Clint Warwick were in the band then. This two record set has all of their first album The Magnificent Moodies from 1965 on it plus some singles. This is Pop and R and B mostly covers and nothing too special but has their hit “Go Now” a great Mersybeat song, also a cover, and “Time Is On My Side” in kind of a Do-Wop style probably closer to the original than the Rolling Stones cover of it. Also “It Ain’t Necessarily So” the Gershwin song from Porgy And Bess. The most interesting song is “From The Bottom Of My Heart” an original written by Pinder and Laine. In 1966 Laine and Warwick left and were replaced by Justin Hayward and John Lodge taking the band in a whole new direction.
