Steve Miller Band-Ultimate Hits

This came out in 2017 and features his music from The Joker to 1986’s Living In The 20th Century. This is his most sucessful period and sounds like a different band that made the music on The Anthology record I listened to yesterday. Gone is the Psychedelic Blues Rock to be replaced by catchy Pop tunes. The bulk of the music on this two record set is from Fly Like An Eagle and Book Of Dreams. The songs from Fly Like An Eagle are good, the ones from Book Of Dreams not so much. “Jet Airliner”,”Swingtown”,and “Jungle Love” were way overplayed.”Sacrifice” is my favorite from that album but it is not on here. “Abracadabra” can also be pretty annoying. There are live recordings of “Space Cowboy” and “Living In The U.S.A.” that are not too good and and an unreleased solo recording of “Seasons” thats not too bad. There is one song from Living in the 20th Century, “I Want To Make The World Turn Around”, that’s a return to his older Blues type music as is that whole record. I do have his 3 CD box set that has a more complete selection of his music.
