Mighty Baby-Tasting The Life Posted on April 19, 2022 by David Meader An English Blues Rock Jam band that was active from the lat 60’s to early 70’s. One I had never heard of untill downloading a massive file of little known Progressive and Psychedelic albums from a site called Chris Goes Rock. Their first album, they only put out two, was one of them. Saw this live album in a mall record store in Temple and picked it up. Don’t know any of the musicians on this record which is strange because many artists from these early bands end up joining other bands later, although according to the liner notes their guitarist, Martin Stone, was originally a member of Savoy Brown. These songs were recorded in 1971 at two venues in England. The sound quality is not very good. Again, according to the liner notes, most of the songs are from an audience recording given to a band member after a show in London. Despite the poor sound quality the music is quite good with sax and flute added to two guitars bass and drums. There are some nice jams in the 22 minute “India” and 16 minutes of something called “A Blanket In My Muesil”. There is also a Gram Parsons cover “Lazy Days”. Sounding a bit like The Grateful Dead at times they are one of those bands that just never made it.
