The Marshall Tucker Band-Where We All Belong

Original

This is their third album from 1974 and one I bought probably in 1975 or ’76. It’s a doble album, one side studio and one side live. The four songs on the live record have plenty of jamming. “Ramblin'” and “Take The Highway” are from the first album. The Blues standard”Everyday(I Have The Blues)” highlights Toy Caldwell’s guitar playingin a more Blues style but the best of the live tracks is the nearly 14 minute “24 Hours At A Time” a song from their second record. After a couple of verses the band starts to jam with Toy leading with his guitar going through different moods untill guest star Charlie Daniels adds his fiddle to the mix. With Tommy’s bass and some flute by Jerry Eubanks it’s almost Grateful Dead-like. The studio side has more Country sounding songs like “Where A Country Boy Belongs” and the ballad “In My Own Way”. My favorite on the record is the first song “This Ol’ Cowboy” with a rare vocal by Toy Caldwell. Charlie Daniels again plays some mean fiddle on this one with Toy pickin’ some acoustic guitar and of course some flute. The cover is in bad shape but the record is good. I don’t remember playing this a lot back when I bought it but it sure sounds good now.
