Manfred Mann’s Earth Band-Nightingales And Bombers

Original

This 1975 release from his Earth Band is probably my favorite except possibly Somewhere In Afrika, their 1983 record. This record has four instrumental and five with vocals all very good. As usual there are some re-worked covers on this record,”Spirits In The Night”, by Bruce Springsteen, was a hit for them and they also cover songs by Bob Dylan ad Joan Armatrading.”Time Is Right”,a group effort,is a real Rocker with guitaristMick Rogers playing a great solo.”Visionary Mountains” by Armatrading and Dylan’s “Please Quit Your Low Down Ways” are also favorites. The four instrumentals feature Mann playing either organ or synthesizer. This is the sixth album with his original line-up from 1970 of drummer Chris Slade, bassist Colin Pattenden and Mick Rogers. Rogers left after this record
