Malo are an 8 peice San Fracisco band active in the 70’s. This is their first record from 1972. They had two guirarists,a lead singer, bass, drums, keyboards, and two guys playing a variety of brass and woodwind instruments. Guitarist Jorge Santana is Carlos’s brother and keyboard player Richard Kermode later joined Santana. Their music is very similar to Santana and most of their vocals are in Spanish. The six songs are all pretty long, nothing under six and a half minutes so there is plenty of room for instrumental breaks. “Suavecito” was a Top 40 hit in 1972 and I liked it back then and still do. It’s on my playlist. After this record many members left but they put out three more before breaking up in 1974,although there is some version of the band still playing today.
