Nick Lowe-Labour Of Lust

This 1979 record credited to Nick Lowe is really a Rockpile album althouigh Lowe wrote most of the songs. Lowe, along with fellow Pub Rocker Dave Edmonds and Billy Bremner and Terry Williams put out a Rockpile album the following year. This is an album I taped off the radio in 1979. At that time living on Pyle Street in Wilmington with my records at a friends house all I had to listen to then were my cassette tapes I recorded off the radio. This one was played a lot. There’s not a bad song on this record, all filled with hooks and great melodies. From the first song “Cruel To Be Kind” ,his only U.S. hit, it is followed with “Cracking Up”,”Big Kick,Plain Scrap”,”American Squirm”,”You Make Me”,and “Skin Deep” all great songs. “Switch Board Susan” starts side two, another great song with “Born Fighter” and “Love So Fine” also very good. I finally got around to buying this used record a few years ago. a great listen from start to finish.
