The Lemonheads-It’s A Shame About Ray

A really great record and easily their best. I originally had this on cassette when it came out in 1992. In 2009 it was released on vinyl. This band from Boston whose only constant member is Evan Dando has David Ryan on drums and Julliana Hatfield on bass for this recording. It’s a short album at just under 30 minutes but for this vinyl release they tacked on their Punked up take on “Mrs. Robinson”. Side one is wonderful with “Rockin’ Stroll”,”Confetti”,the title track,”Rudderless”,My Drug Buddy”,and “The Turnpike Down”. Side two is almost as good. There are two covers that end the record “Frank Mills” from the Hair soundtrack and “Mrs. Robinson”. Besides this one I had four of five of their releases on cassette on a three on CD.Their earlier albums were more in a Punk style.
