Various Artists-Woodstock Original Soundtrack

This is the original three record set from 1970. Another one owned by my good friends brother that we used to listen to a lot in the mid 70’s. A two record set came out a year later with more music that I used to own. Many CD box sets were released in the 90’s. Since it is a worknight(I work second shift and listen to the record at 1:AM when I get home from work) I listened to sides 1,3,and 5 the sides I remember listening to most back in the day. Side one has Richie Haven’s great “Freedom(Motherless Child)” and Arlo Guthrie’s drug smuggling song “Coming into Los Angeles”. Side two has a good version of “Wooden Ships” by C.S.N.& Y. ,The Who doing “We’re Not Gonna Take It” and Joe Cocker’s iconic “With A Little Help From My Friends”.Side five starts with Jefferson Airplane’s “Volunteers” followed by Max Yasgur’s speech(“I’m a Farmer…”),the owner of the farm the festival was held at,then a high energy medley by Sly and The Family Stone “Dance To The Music/Music Lover/I Want To Take You Higher”. Some other goo performances are Ten Years After “I’m Going Home”,Jimi Hendrix’s “Star Spangled Banner” and the famous “Fish Cheer” by Country Joe McDonald. In 2005 We took a vacation in Sullivan County New York which was near the site of the festival. One day we drove out to visit it. They were in the process of building a museum at the top of the hill but it was not quite ready to open yet.I remember I got a speeding ticket in Bethel that day. A month later I went back to see Phil Lesh and Friends play the first show at the new venue that opened there. The museum was still not open yet so I didn’t get to visit it.
