Kinski-Down Below It’s Chaos

Kinski are a four piece band from Seattle. Another album I bought knowing nothing about the band. I kind of liked the cover although my copy has the buildings in a purple color instead of the green. I must admit I haven’t listened to this much since I bought it about ten years ago. This came out in 2007 and is one of their later albums. I bought three more of their records since then and am looking forward to listening to all of them. Mostly instrumental, three of the nine songs do have vocals, although not very strong. After listening to all four sides of this 47 minute recording I found That I liked them. They play a heavy Rock/Blues with different moods. Some songs sound spacey and trippy before changing to some heavy Sabbath like riffs. Other sections are more quiet with some flute added. Other times they go into some feedback/ noise playing, sounding like Sonic Youth. An enjoyable record, my only complaint is the four sides. They could have put it on two sides. I don’t like these newer releases with 12 to 14 minutes on a side. With the advent of the CD bands started making longer records of 50 to 60 minutes and more. Vinyl traditionally has about 20 minute a side but I do have a few that have 30 minute sides that sound OK.
