Kingfish-Live’N” Kickin’

A live album recorded in 1976 at The Roxy in Hollywood. A band with close ties to The Grateful Dead with Dave Torbert from The New Riders Of The Purple Sage and Bob Weir joined during The Grateful Dead’s hiatus from ’74-’75. Leader Matt Kelly was a close friend of Weir’s and played with The Grateful Dead occasionally. They play The Grateful Dead’s style of Country/Folk/Rock but without the long jams. Only two originals on the record “Goodbye Your Honor” and the awesome “Hypnotized” sounding much like The Grateful Dead with a nice solo by guitarist Robbie Hoddinott. This is one I have on my playlist. All the other songs are covers, most from the 50’s, by the likes of Jimmie Rodgers, Little Walter,Rufus Thomas, and Dave Bartholomew, as well as Chuck Berry’s “Around And Around” a song The Grateful Dead played many times in concert. This is a used record I bought sometime in the 80’s,the $5.99 price tag is still on it. The cover is in fair shape the record sounds good.
