Matri Jones is the wife of Don Dixon the musician and producer of early REM,The Smithereens,and others. This is a used record I bought about four years ago from a 2 for three dollars bin. I don’t think I had ever listened to it before. She sings and plays guitar with help from husband Dixon who plays something on almost every track and Marshal and Robert Crenshaw,and Mitch Easter among others. Most of the songs are in the Pop or Jangle Pop that Dixon is involved in producing ,some a little Country influenced. There are also plenty of covers including ones by Marshal Crenshaw,Free, and David Bowie. I have an album of hers, Live At Spirit Square, on CD but I don’t think I’ve listened to that much either. Not a bad record but not sure if I’ll keep this one.
