Iron And Wine-Around The Well

This is a compilation album of old and unreleased songs on two records with a fifth side of the nine minute “The Trapeze Swinger”. The sixth side has an etching of the cover on it. Although I bought this in 2009 when it came out I don’t think I have ever listened to side one more than once. Again almost all acoustic Folksy stuff, I liked about half the songs. Sam Beam sings in a quiet voice almost never raising it above a whisper. A few songs I really liked are “Hickory”, that sounded like a Drive-By Tuckers song to me,”No Moon”,”Carried Home” and two covers “Such Great Heights” by The Postal Service” and New Order’s “Love Vigilantes”,a song that will go on my playlist. There are two more covers on the album “Peng 33” by Stereolab, hardly recognizable, and one by The Flaming Lips.
