This is a pairing of their first two albums that were not originally released in the U.S. because of legal reasons. This two record set came out in 1971 and I bought this used copy sometime in the 90’s. The liner notes on the back of the record list Town and Country as their first record which is what I listened to today but it is actually their second which came out in December of 1969. Humble Pie as formed by Steve Marriott of Small Faces,Peter Frampton who had been in the group The Herd the last four years, Greg Ridley of Spooky Tooth and Jerry Shirley. Side on of Town And Country has one song written by each member, two by Marriott and ends with “Ollie,Ollie”a bit of silliness. Side two has a cover of the Buddy Holly song “Heartbeat” and more originals by Marriott and Frampton. About half acoustic and electric, some sounding a bit like Small Faces,Frampton’s songs sounding like any of his later solo work. An altogether pretty good record.
