This is a compilation album of tracks from five albums released on Atlantic Records from the years 1966 to 1970. A two record set this came out in 1973 and is one I bought used for six dollars. The record and cover are in pretty good shape. As mentioned before I had hundreds of Jazz albums on cassette and CD and two or three by Hubbard . These are earlier tracks before he started recording for CTI in the 70’s. Some of the sidemen I recognize are James Spaulding and Bennie Maupin on sax and flute,Kenny Baron on Piano and organ and Eric Gale playing electric guitar on the slow Blues of “Midnight Soul”. “High Blues Pressure” and Lonely Soul” are also songs more in the style of Soul and Blues than Jazz. “Spacetrack” is a nearly 17 minute composition with lots of soloing. Also on this record are three tracks from Sing Me A Song Of Songmy album made with Turkish composer Ihan Mimaroglu. The album features spoken word, strings and some tape manipulation. Generally an Anti-war statement the album deals with events of the late 60’s. The songs from that record are “Threnody For Sharon Tate”,”Black Soldier”,and “Interlude I”.
