Jimi Hendrix-Valleys Of Neptune

Another release from the Experience Hendrix group from 2010. These are songs recorded in 1969 with the original Jimi Hendrix experience band. Again these are songs intended for his fourth album, some have been released in different versions on other albums. A really good record this has some Blues “Hear My Train A Comin'”,and “Red House” and a nearly 7 minute instrumental of “Sunshine Of Your Love” with Rocki Dzidzornu on percussion who also played on the Stones “Sympathy For The Devil”. There are also alternative takes of “Stone Free” and “Fire”. Some songs I had never heard before are “Valleys Of Neptune”,”Ships Passing Through The Night”,”Lullaby For The Summer” and the instrumental “Crying Blue Rain”. My favorite posthumous album I have heard so far. Experience Hendrix have put out many albums since 1995 and I will have to check out more of them. They are high quality recordings on heavy vinyl with heavy duty gatefold covers. This one has an 8 page booklet with photos and extensive commentary on the recording of each track. The three years I resided in Philadelphia were on Hendrix Street. Don’t know if it was named after him but it was a fairly new development on the outskirts of the city so I suppose it could have been.
