Jimi Hendrix-Crash Landing

0riginal

This is the third or fourth album released after his death. This came out in 1975 when I bought it. The first of many posthumous releases produced by Alan Douglas. Hendrix had a large amount of unreleased tracks, many uncomplete and demos recorded with The Jimi Hendrix Experience and Band of Gypsys members. Douglas decided to keep Jimi’s vocals and guitar parts but overdubbed bass, drums, and additional guitar using session musicians, even adding female vocals to the title track. That being said I always liked this record and played it many times. “Message To Love”,”Somewhere Over The Rainbow” and “Crash Landing” on side one were good. Side two has “Peace in Mississippi”, a hard driving instrumental,”With The Power” an alternative version of “Stone Free” and another instrumental “Captain Coconut”. All of the original recordings of these songs were released on various albums by Experience Hendrix, the family run business that took over control of his music in 1995. The record is pretty scratchy and the cover is almost in two pieces since it has shared space with the Are You Experienced album since the late 70’s. I think I stole that one from somewhere after someone stole my Smash Hits record.
