Heart-Heart

After a few albums that weren’t so well received they had a big comeback with this self titled record. With four MTV friendly singles this was their best selling record. By this time founding members Roger Fisher and Steve Fossen had departed to be replaced by Mark Andes who had been in Spirit and various other bands and Denny Carmassi who had payed with Montrose and Sammy Hagar. All the singles were not written by the band and are of the power ballad type but the two rockers,”The Wolf” and “Shell Shock”,credited to the bad as a whole, have an almost Metal sound to them. Two songs written by Holly Knight “Never” and”All Eyes” are two of the best songs on the record. According to the liner notes Grace Slick adds vocals to “What About Love” and after listening to it closely I can hear her voice in the chorus. All in all a good record and one I bought in 1985 when it came out.
