Heart-Dreamboat Annie

Original

Ah yes,the lovely Wilson sisters! Heart is a band from the Seattle area that added Ann and Nancy Wilson in 1974 and moved to Canada to record this their debut album. I bought it as soon as it came out after hearing the great song “Magic Man” on the radio. Released in Canada in 1975 it came out in the U.S. in Feb. of 1976. Side one is great with “Magic Man”,”Crazy On You”,and “Soul Of The Sea” with two short versions of the title track. I distinctly remember “Soul Of The Sea” playing on the radio one night after closing at the steak house I was working at while moping the floor. I don’t know why this sticks out to me because I did that many many times while working at that place where we would change the radio station after closing and cleaning up. Every time I hear that song I can see myself mopping that floor. Funny how some songs trigger memories. Side two I never played that much but listening to it today it too sounds pretty good. The somewhat Funky “White Lightning & Wine” is good and “Sing Child” has a break with some Hendrix style guitar by Roger Fisher. The record closes with a reprise of “Dreamboat Annie”. I had the inside of the gatefold cover hanging on my bedroom wall at the house I was living at in Wilmington.
