A really great album and the debut from the leader of the Blake Babies. I really liked the Blake Babies and had all four of their releases on cassette. Been looking for something from them on vinyl but have not seen anything yet except their reunion album from 2001 that I have on CD and don’t like very much. They broke up in 1991 and this came out a year later.Always liked her little girl sounding voice. Side one is great with every track a winner including “I See You”,’Lights” and “Nirvana” a re-recording of a song from Rosy Jack World, the Blake Babies last recording. That song about suicide has the line “I got Nirvana in my head, I’m so glad I’m not dead”. Not sure if she means the band or the state of mind but she suffered from depression, sometimes suicidal according to her. Side two though not quite as good does have “No Outlet” another great song. Evan Dando of The Lemonheads plays guitar and sings on three tracks on side one. He and Juliana had some kind of relationship, she playing on their album It’s A Shame About Ray and Evan playing on some Blake Babies songs. They have done a couple tours together.
