The Sensational Alex Harvey Band-The Collection

Another one from the Collector Series. This one is an import from Germany I bought in the 80’s. It’s a good collection of 19 songs running almost 90 minutes. There are five from the SAHB Stories album, including all of side two, spread out on all four sides. Also on the record are two songs I had taped in the early 70’s from the radio,”Faith Healer” and “Vambo”. It also includes some of his covers like “Framed”,”Deliah”,the Tom Jones hit from the 60’s,and “Next”,the Jacques Brel song sounding very Cabaret like. Other good songs are “The Tale Of The Giant Stoneater”,”Action Strasse” and “Give My Compliments To The Chef”. A good compilation of a band that sounds like on one else. His Scottish accent always makes me think of Groundskeeper Willie especially on the spoken word opening of “Dogs Of War”. I’m pretty sure I saw them in concert opening for someone in the 70’s. I went to so many concerts then it’s hard to remember all of them. Harvey died in 1982 of a heart attack on the eve of his 47th birthday.
