Bo Hansson is a Swedish keyboard player. This was released in late 1970 in Sweden and in the U.S. in 1972. It was around this time that I had read Tolkien’s books so when I saw this record I had to buy it. He plays all the instruments on the album with some help from friends on sax, flute, and drums. An all instrumental record with short songs, nothing over 5 minutes. The music is mostly quiet or pastoral sounding the exceptions being “The Black Riders/Flight To The Ford” with some fuzz toned guitar and a galloping rhythm, and “The Horns Of Rohan/The Battle Of Pelennor Fields with the same rhythm and sounding like a calvary charge. The last song “The Grey Havens” has some nice organ playing with a haunting background. The record has had several re-issues on vinyl and CD and is his best known work. He put out a few more records in the 70’s one of which I had on CD then dissapeared from the music business.
