Hall & Oates-War Babies

This is their third album from 1974.One that I bought a few years ago for a dollar. Most of their records can be found in the dollar bins at record stores. This one is a departure from the Abandoned Luncheonette record with a more rock oriented sound. Produced by Todd Rundgren he is listed as a band member playing lead guitar and baking vocals. Also in the band are Willie Wilcox and John Siegler from his band Utopia. The record definitely has Todd’s stamp on it with side one sounding almost like a Todd Rundgren solo record with it’s blue-eyed soul sound to it. Side two is a little strange with “War Baby Son Of Zorro” ,”Johnny Gore And The “C” Eaters” and “I’m Watching You(A Mutant Romance)”,a song about someone watching a whore on a surveillance camera. The liner notes say surveillance cameras were installed at Times Square in 1973. There were no hits from this record and I had never heard any of the songs from this record before except “70’s Scenario” which I heard once on the 70’s show WXPN does from 6PM to 7PM every weeknight.
