Grateful Dead-Without A Net

This three record live album was recorded in late 1989 to early 1990 on their American tour. New Keyboard player Brent Mydland died from a drug overdose shortly before the record was released. This is a good record with some nice jamming in some of the songs. The playing is great but I never likek Brent Mydland’s synthesizers and twinkly sounding piano. I never though it fit with the rest of the playing. Also the bass seems to be far back in the mix hardly heard at all. Nevertheless there is some extended jamming on “Bird Song”,”Let It Grow”,”Help On The Way/Slipnot/Franklin’s Tower”,and “Eyes Of The World” with guest Branford Marsalis playing some sax. I bought this when it came out in 1990.
