Gong-Gong Est Mort,Vive Gong

This is a live album recorded at a one day event in Paris on May of 1977. This marathon concert featured the now Pierre Moerlin led Gong that was a more Jazz Fusion band that had put out two records since 1975 and the return of the Daevid Allen,Gilli Smyth band with all the players of the Radio Gnome Invisible era for a one off performance. Also on the bill were sets by Tim Blake,Steve Hillage, and Mike Howlett’s band Strontium 90 whose members were Sting,Andy Summers, and Stewart Copeland. The first two songs on this double album are from their Camembert Electrique record and the rest from the Radio Gnome Trilogy. There are plenty of solos from Steve Hillage,Didier Malherbe, and Tim Blake, with a great rhythm backing by Pierre Moerlin and Mike Howlett. The sound quality is good on this album on the Tapioca Records label from France. This is a used record I bought in 2018.I had never seen it before,in fact it is not even listed in my Great Rock Discography book that is pretty extensive in its listings. The cover and records are in good shape,I don’t remember what I paid for it but it was pretty pricey. All liner notes are in French.
