Gong is a band formed in Paris in the late 60’s by Daevid Allen and partner Gilli Smyth. Flying Teapot is the first part of the Radio Gnome Invisible trilogy released in 1973. I had originally purchased part two called Angels Egg in the early 90’s while living in Upper Darby.The first and third parts were bought about a year later They are re-issues from 1985 on Charley Records and made in Portugal. They have different covers and no liner notes.The music is part jazz,electronic space music,progressive and just plain silliness.The whole story something about Pot Head Pixies and their Flying Teapot.Angels Egg has a booklet that explains what is going on and is a gatefold record as are the other two but not on the two re-issues i own. The record is mostly instrumental with some vocals by Darevid Allen,mostly chanting,and “space whispers” by Gilli Smyth. She plays the part of a prostitute,a cat, and a witch in the story.
