Golden Earring-Switch

original

Another great album. Hard to pick a favorite Golden Earring record, there are three or four I would name, this would be one of them.Released in 1975,(their tenth)I bought it as soon as I saw it. By this time they had abandoned their progressive leanings of the early 70’s in favor of straight Rock and Roll. They added Robert Jan Stips on keyboards on this and their next record.Every song is good, another record played hundreds of times, both sides are great. The title track “Switch” is about genderbending and has some great guitar by George Kooymans. “Kill Me(Ce Soir)” is about a Rock star who is killed after having a song with that title on a record. the lyrics mention Watergate which was just wrapping up at that time. “Tons Of Time” has kind of Reggae beat to it. “Lonesome DJ” is a great song about a disc jocky. The record sounds good after all these years,no skips.
