Godspeed You Black Emperor are a band from Montreal that fall into the Post-Rock genre. They are a loose collective of musicians often numbering as many as nine in the band. The record consists of one 12” record with two side long pieces and a 45 with two shorter six minute compositions. Completely instrumental,like most Post-Rock bands, there are on long solos but more like an orchestra with rock instruments. Again going from quiet passages to loud rocking sections,the music is never boring but changing all the time. A friend of my sons turned me on to this band as I drove them to Penn State and we listened to one of their CDs on the way up.I bought their first three albums on CD which survived the big sell off of 2013 and this is their fourth release after a 7 year hiatus. I bought this record in 2012 one of only two records I bought during the time I was living in Bally.
