John Fogerty-Centerfield

This is third and best album from 1985. It contains the title track, a big hit for him and a tribute to the game of baseball. The first song on the record “The Old Man Down The Road” was released as a single with a video.I can,t hear that song without seeing the video in my head of the camera following the electrical cord all over the place .Fogerty was sued by Saul Zaentz who owned the rights to his songs claiming that the song was the same as “Run Through The Jungle” a song he wrote when he was in Creedence Clearwater Revival. Fogerty ultimately won that suit. The record also had a song called Zanz Kant Danz an obvious attack on Zaentz but after some initial pressings it was changed to Vanz Kant Danz on all later pressings. Although I did buy this record in 1985 while living in Hull it does have the revised Vanz Kant Danz title. Fogerty played all the instruments on the record including the electronic digital drums which kind of cheapens it I think. All songs are pretty good including the Country “Big Train(From Memphis)” and “Searchlight” another song with that Creedence Swamp Rock sound. “Mister Greed” is another obvious swipe at Zaentz and Fantasy Records.
