The Fall were a band from England who put out over 30 records from 1978 to 2017 until the death of frontman and only constant member Mark E Smith from cancer in 2018. The songs on this record are from 1977 to 1980 and are compiled from live shows and singles and demos. The Fall is characterized by a repetitive guitar, bass and drum backing to Smith’s “Singing”,more like speaking,snarling,or ranting,kind of like Iggy Pop or Damo Suzuki of Can. The studio tracks like “Strychnine” ,a Sonics cover, and “Hey Luciani” are the most listenable,while on the live track Smith’s lyrics are often hard to understand and comprehend.A record I bought in 2016 that was 50% off.
