Emerson,Lake& Palmer-Emerson,Lake & Palmer

Their first album from early 1971. A progressive supergroup with Emerson coming from The Nice,Lake from King Crimson, and Palmer from Atomic Rooster. The music on this record is much like what The Nice were playing with their use of Classical music. Back in High School me and my music geek friends would have discussions about which was the best Progressive group E.L.P. or Yes. I was a Yes guy,I thought E.L.P. was too keyboard dominated, not enough guitar. Emerson is definitely the lead instrumentalist on this record with “The Barbarian”,and “The Three Fates” pretty muck keyboard solos. I remember hearing “Lucky Man” for the first time late at night on my AM transistor radio in 1970 when I shared a large room with my two brothers. The following year I checked it out of my High Schools record library and listened to it quite a lot. “Knife Edge” was perhaps my favorite back then, but I also liked “Take A Pebble” with it’s acoustic guitar interlude that turns into a finger picking hoedown at one point before returning to more piano.’Tank” with a drum solo by Palmer sounds like a preview of their next record Tarkus. This is a used record I bought about ten years ago, cover and record are in good shape.
