Eloy-Floating

original

Eloy is a German band that started in the early 70’s.This is their third album from 1974. Their music is Heavy Progressive Space Rock. They have put out over 20 records, last releasing one in 2017. The one constant member through all these years has been guitarist and singer Frank Bornemann. Side one starts with an instrumental “Floating” that goes right into “The Light From Deep Darkness” a 14 minute song that leaves plenty of room for long guitar and organ solos. Side two has three songs all in a similar vein, with lyrics at a minimum and jamming throughout. The keyboard dominated “Plastic Girl” is my favorite on side two. I bought this record in 1975, always looking for something different to listen to. It became a favorite to listen to when under the influence of whatever drug I was on at the time. I had their first record on CD but didn’t like it as much. The cover is in bad shape, almost coming apart, the record is a little scratchy with one skip.
