The Doobie Brothers-The Captain And Me

original

Their third album and the first I bought by them in 1973. If ever there was a record I played hundreds of times it is this one. In fact I replaced my original album from ’73 with a used reissue about three years ago. This is an awesome record with a variety of songs. From the two big hits “Long Train Runnin” and “China Grove”, to the rockers “Without You” and “Evil Woman” to the Bluesy “Dark Eyed Cajun Woman” and the Country/Bluegrass inspired “South City Midnight Lady” the record does not disappoint. The title track and “Clear As Driven snow” are more on the acoustic side with some nice harmonies. “Natural Thing”,the albums opener has some synthesizers and “Ukiah” is also a good song. Not a bad song on the record. I listened to side one on my original album. It’s pretty scratchy and sounds worn out but no skips!. Side two was on the newer record and it sounds great.
