Dire Straits-Alchemy

A double live album recorded in 1983. Another really good record there are ten songs most of which are extended with some improvisation. I listened to sides 1,2,and 3 all of which are very good. Most of the songs are on the slower more mellow side but all feature Mark Knopfler’s fingerpicking guitar style. “Romeo And Juliet” and “Private Investigations” are quiet songs that have some nice acoustic style guitar. “Expresso Love” is a rocker and a favorite of mine. “Sultans Of Swing” has some extended guitar work by Knopfler and they bring out Mel Collins to play some sax on “Two Young Lovers”. He sticks around for a cool intro to “Tunnel Of Love” that features his sax and piano by Alan Clark.
