This album was released in late 2010 and features two shows at the Monsters Of Rock Festival in 1983 and ’87. The ’83 show has him playing songs from Holy Diver and “Man On The Silver Mountain”and parts of “Starstruck” and “Stargazer” from his Blackmores Rainbow days. He also plays “Children Of The Sea” and a long version of “Heaven and Hell” from his time in Black Sabbath. The ’87 show has a new guitarist in Craig Goldy but all other members of the band are still together for this show. This show follows the release of Dream Evil and four songs are from that record including the title track and “The Last In Line” one of my favorite Dio songs. They also play Sabbath’s” Neon Nights” and “Rock And Roll Children” from the Sacred Heart Album. They close the show with staples “Heaven And Hell”,”Man On The Silver Mountain”,and “Rainbow n The Dark”. In May of 2010 Dio died of cancer and we lost one of the great heavy metal voices of all time. In July of 2010 I was at the Bonnaroo Festival and saw Tenacious D do a poignant rendition of their song “Dio” just eight weeks after his death. Jack Black introduced the song with a touching story of working with him on their movie.
