Ani DiFranco-Allergic To Water

Ani DiFranco is an American singer -songwriter whose music can be very political. She is an activist of the Woman’s movement and LGBT rights. She also plays a mean acoustic guitar in a fast finger picking style. I first stated listening to her in the mid 90’s and bought all her albums on tape or CD for the next ten years. The tapes are all gone but I still have about six or seven CD’s. I once took the CD’s to a record store to sell them, not because I don’t like Ani DiFranco, but because I don’t like CD’s. The man gave them back to me and said “Ani DiFranco? You got to be kidding”. Although I don’t agree with her political lyrics, as I’ve said before what a lyric actually says doesn’t mean a lot to me but it’s more about how they sound. This record came out in 2014 on her own Righteous Babe label and is all I have from her on vinyl. Unfortunately there are some defects and skips on sides two three and four. The uptempo songs are better than the slower ones. Side one is best with the song “Woe Be Gone” closing the side, a song I really like. Other good songs are “Genie”,Tr’w”,”Dithering”,and “Rainy Parade”. There is less of her acoustic guitar on this record,it’s more of a group effort. She put out a new record in 2017 but I would love to get some of her earlier records on vinyl,if they exist, especially her two live albums I have on CD.
