Detective-Detective

original

This record came out in 1977. The band included Tony Kaye of Yes and Michael Des Barres who was married to famous groupie Pamela Des Barres from ’77 to ’91 who was a co-writer on some of their songs. I remember when this record came out they were touted as the new Led Zeppelin on the strength of the single “Grim Reaper”, that had a heavy riff. Other songs like “Recognition” and “One More Heartache” were similar but lacked the instrumental prowess of Led Zeppelin. Ironically they were on Zeppelin’s Swan Song label. Those are the best songs on the record. “Deep Down” is an instrumental and “Wild Hot Summer Nights” is a funky almost Disco song.
